DateMeStrangler ("we", "our", "the app") is a video-first social and dating app that lets you meet new people through random video chat, speed dating, and profile-based matching. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
Account data. Email address and password when you create an account.
Profile data. Your name or nickname, age, gender, who you want to meet, dating intent, short bio, occupation, interests, live location (latitude/longitude and city), and the photos you upload.
Verification data. When email verification (OTP) is enabled, we send a one-time code to your email. We do not store the code after it expires.
Communications. Text messages and images you share in chats, and video/audio of video calls.
Usage data. Swipes, likes, passes, matches, blocks, reports, and other in-app actions.
Device data. Camera and microphone access (only during a video call), photo library access (only when you choose to upload a photo), and location access (for nearby matching).
Voice (optional). If you explicitly turn on the IntroSpark feature, your device's on-device speech recognition transcribes what you say to suggest conversation prompts. We do not record or store your voice, and the feature is off unless you turn it on.
Video and audio in calls are transmitted peer-to-peer using WebRTC. We provide the signalling infrastructure that connects calls, but the media streams are not stored on our servers.
Photos you upload are stored in our cloud storage (Amazon S3) and served through a content delivery network (Amazon CloudFront). They are visible to people who view your profile or chat with you.
We use your live location to find people near you and to show your approximate city. We do not share your precise location with other users; other users see only an approximate distance and city.
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers that help us operate the app, including Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, email), and, where required, to comply with legal obligations.
We retain your data only as long as needed to provide the service. Chat messages and match data may be retained for a limited period to keep conversations available. You can delete your account to remove your profile. To request deletion, contact us using the details below.
You may access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can withdraw camera, microphone, photo, and location permissions at any time from your device settings. Withdrawing permissions may limit some features.
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
The app is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
We may update this policy. We will notify you of significant changes within the app.
